Day 253: Leaving on a Jet Plane

What a day!

I'm not going to lie; today was a rough one.  Several thoughts went through my head, one of which included Little Buddy being an only child.  Oh my sweet boy, you can be handful.

But it wasn't all his fault.  Let me start at the beginning:

We didn't sleep well.  Little Buddy did not want to sleep in his crib so he had to sleep with us.  This resulted in Daddy and I getting kicked all night and not getting much rest.  Then, it turned out that our hotel room number was the same number as the Columbus area code, meaning that intoxicated hotel patrons ended up calling our room in the wee hours of the morning as they attempted to gain an outside line to order pizza.  Once we figured out what was going on, we unplugged our phones, but our sleep had already been disrupted.

We were able to get packed up and checked out of the hotel without much incident (just Little Buddy's constant need to flush toilet paper down the toilet).  We then went back to Bob Evans (we needed a good fix before heading back to Texas!) to meet our friends Mr. J and Ms. A for breakfast.  Little Buddy had a lot of fun with them!

After breakfast, we drove to Dayton to catch our plane.  The first fight was pretty easy; Little Buddy was so tired he slept through it.   However, chasing him through the Cleveland Airport during our layover was exhausting.  Again, this was not his fault.  A two-year-old just has too much energy to be contained!  Daddy and I traded off running around with him, but each of us was just worn our from a lack of sleep the night before.  Why do airports not have play places for kids?  I would gladly pay five dollars to let him run off his energy in a safe environment out of the way of other travelers.  We were able to buy a few minutes of peace by showing Little Buddy the fun ball gizmo at the airport.  He loves this thing!

We also had several cases of peed through pants; not fun to deal with during a trip.  If it is this hard traveling with one kid, we can't imagine if we had another one.  Admiration and congrats to all our friends that do have multiple kids!  We are in awe of you!

Little Buddy was still pretty keyed up during the long flight back to Houston.  Thankfully, we had downloaded a few Sesame Street episodes to pass the time and Elmo gave us a bit of a break.  This was great because Daddy and I could barely keep our eyes open.

We finally landed, made it to the off-site car parking area, and got our car.  We had to stop for milk and bananas on the way home, but finally we made it home.

Oh home, sweet home.  We had a great trip, but goodness were we happy to put Little Buddy back in his own crib and sleep in our own bed too.  Tonight, we shall sleep well!  I am sure of it!

Night all,

LBM
