Day 116: My Little Ham Bone

For the past week, Little Buddy has been sleeping in until about 6:30 AM, sometimes even 6:45 AM!  Although this has been great for a few extra moments of sleep for me, poor Daddy hasn't been able to see his Little Buddy before heading to work.  He misses starting his day with that smiling face.

Today was another 6:30 AM day.  I do greatly prefer it to a 5:45 AM wake-up call, but late starts are tough on school mornings.  We have to leave by 8:30 AM, which is a half hour earlier than we have to leave for BBC.  Just that extra half hour seems to make a big difference.  And, just when I think we are ready to go on time, Little Buddy decides to dirty a diaper!  Today was no exception.  We made it out the door by the skin of our teeth after a last minute diaper change.

As I've mentioned before, Little Buddy has had a rough time at school lately, as have several of his friends.  I keep hoping the separation anxiety will abate, but each week it remains.  He seemed a little less sad at drop off today, so there is hope!  He didn't cry until I went to hand him off to the teacher, as opposed to crying as we walk down the hall to his classroom.  I'll take whatever progress I can get.

I was pleasantly surprised then, when I went to pick him up and his teachers told me that he had a great day!  Besides drop off, he didn't cry all day!  Yay!  Hopefully this phase is starting to pass.  But I do like the new stage that's starting:  he's becoming such a ham!  Now each time I take out the camera, he runs up, smiles, and yells "cheese!"  You'll see it in the pictures from today.  However, he is starting to do this to strangers as they try to take pictures of their kids!  How did I teach a twenty-two month old not to photo bomb?

Cheese!  My happy boy leaving school and wearing his bookbag!

I can't believe how big he is already!

Once I got him packed into the truck, we headed over to the park to play.  Ms. J and her boys were there and we had fun playing with them.

Cheese!  Playing at the park wearing the replacement bucket hat!

Loves going down the slide!

As the afternoon went on, it started to get pretty hot, so we decided to leave the park and head to the splash pad to wait to meet up with Daddy.

Cheese!  I love the splash pad!

Daddy had a late dinner for work tonight and wouldn't be able to see Little Buddy before bed.  Since he didn't get to see Little Buddy this morning, Daddy asked us to come up and eat an early dinner.  We were happy to oblige.

Happy to see Daddy!

 "Let's get some food now!"

Cheese!  Somebody's happy to have his grilled cheese and to cheese it up for the camera!

"Here's the church and here's the steeple, open the doors and see the people!"

Yum, yum, yum!

After dinner, we said goodbye to Daddy and left to go home for bath and bedtime.  I was hoping that I had worn Little Buddy out enough to ensure an easy, uneventful bedtime.  Oh was I wrong!  I gave him his bath and let him walk over to his bedroom like we do every night.  However, as I picked out his pajamas, Little Buddy bent down to grab a book and...starting peeing!  As I quickly tried to block the fire hose with a towel, he then made a poo-poo on the floor!  Argh!  Oh well, I can't complain too much; this is only the third time he's peed on the floor and just the second time he poo-pooed on the floor.  Oh the glamour of parenthood!  Once I got everything cleaned up, he went to bed fairly easily.

So that was our day.  I wanted to take a second to thank all of you who have told me that you like this blog.  I am committed to recording Little Buddy and I's year together, but sometimes it takes a lot of effort to set aside the time to write it, especially late at night when I am working on homework.  Just knowing that my friends are out there reading it gives me motivation to keep it up.  Thank all of you for your support!  This may actually be a New Year's Resolution that I fully keep!

Night everyone,

LBM
