Remember this puppy? The one that lags behind everyone else and discovers things at his own speed? Well, that's all well and good, but sometimes we need to get a move on!
Little Buddy had swimming this morning. Once he had done all his reach and pulls and jumps, we got him dried off and headed to do some errands. Right before lunch, I ran into Toys R Us to finish our errands. I was really starting to feel hungry, so imagine my surprise when I got back to the car and saw Daddy desperately trying to keep Little Buddy awake! He was falling asleep before lunch, our biggest fear! If he falls asleep before lunch, he refuses to take his normal afternoon nap! We were headed to Jason's Deli across the parking lot, so I took Little Buddy and jogged over, trying to temp him to wakefulness with promises of grilled cheese, while my husband drove the car over. I had almost lost hope until we stood in front of Jason's. Once Little Buddy realized where we were, he immediately energized. We couldn't believe how fast he woke up and ran to the door!
However, lunch--and actually meals in general--with Little Buddy are becoming quite the event. It's not a sprint, it's a marathon. He eats sooo much and he eats it sooo slowly, my husband and I are often chomping at the bit to get going! Little Buddy just enjoys eating and observing the world around him, I guess.
La, la, la, la...just munching on my grilled cheese...
Hey, look up there! It's a ceiling!
After we finally finished our lunch, it turned out that Little Buddy's three minute nap had rejuvenated him enough that he decided not to nap. Ugh! We ended up taking him and Chesney on a long walk and he finally started to snooze. Just like the Poky Little Puppy, everything is on Little Buddy's schedule. When he did wake up, he decided it was time to help Daddy work on the truck.
"Hmm, I'm pretty sure I can put this XM radio in by myself..."
"Let me just get my ratchet."
Once he finished on the truck, we played in the yard, and then had our dinner. Little Buddy had a tough time getting to bed tonight and woke up a couple of times crying. We're not sure if it was his teeth or if he was having nightmares. He seems to be asleep now, so hopefully he will get a good night's rest and be ready to be my Poky Little Buddy tomorrow!
Goodnight,
LBM
