Little Buddy slept in again today! This time, he slept in until 6:45 AM and I even got to take a shower before he woke up, amazing! However, each time he sleeps in, Daddy doesn't get to see him. Daddy always misses him when he doesn't get to see him at the start of the day. Normally, the ritual is that Little Buddy wakes up and calls for us, Daddy goes to get him and change him, and then Daddy brings Little Buddy down to wake up Mommy with kisses. I love waking up this way! Hopefully he will start waking up with enough time to say hi to my husband before he heads to work.
Since it was Wednesday, it was time to take Little Buddy to school. Unfortunately, he is still having a rough time. I thought he was just experiencing some separation anxiety after my trip to Kentucky, but he was just fine at his play date yesterday. He just seems to be getting worse at school each week and I don't know what to do. He cries when I leave and, though he settles down after a bit, he gets worked up again each time they transition to a different room or activity. When I came to pick him up today, he was laying on the rug in the room, sobbing. It broke my heart! However, as soon as he saw me, he jumped up with a big smile and ran toward me. This makes me think it is just some separation anxiety, but it's been especially hard to comprehend since he really enjoyed going to school when he first started. We will finish the school year and then reevaluate from there. I comfort myself that he is only there for 3.5 waking hours (he naps the other 1.5 hours) a week. Also, he is learning stuff, so it isn't as if he is so upset that he is not absorbing any information. I just hate to see him sad.
Thankfully, I was able to cheer him up pretty quickly with some water fun! We met some friends at a local splash pad and Little Buddy had a blast!
Little boy, big splash pad.
"This is so awesome Mommy!"
Guess he got thirsty!
After he wore himself out by splashing around, playing "run from Mommy and giggle", and eating everyone's leftover chicken nuggets (see, totally recovered from last weekend!), we headed home to meet Daddy for dinner. Little Buddy and Daddy were very happy to be reunited again!
After dinner, some more play time with Daddy, and a much needed bath, a very tired Little Buddy settled down to bed. Now to follow suit!
Night all,
LBM
