Day 305: Arrrr, Happy Halloween!

It was a big day today because it was Halloween!  And it is the first Halloween that Little Buddy seems to understand a little bit of what is going on, so that makes it even more exciting.  We had fun plans for this evening, but first we had to go to school and then get ourselves ready for the party!

Starting the day off with some of Momma's oatmeal.  He's really been into it lately!

Willfully attempting to make us late to the party by tearing up the bathroom and getting into all of Momma's make-up.  Ugh.

We did finally get ready and make it over to Mr. R, Ms. L, and J's house for the party.  The kids had a great time playing, there was lots of yummy food, and it was so fun to trick-or-treat as a group!

 The pirate family!

It was so fun to see all of the kiddos playing in the backyard while wearing their costumes!

Little Buddy caught trying to steal food!  He couldn't get enough of the goodies, especially grapes and the chili!  "More soup!"

Trying to get all of the kids in one picture.  Mr. R did a good job of herding them!

The crew!

Time for trick-or-treat!

Candy!

Headed back after a great night!

It was a fantastic night with our friends!  I continue to be so thankful that we have made such great friends down here in Texas and that Little Buddy has so many wonderful kiddos to grow up with!

Day 304: Bye-Bye Grammy and Pop-Pop

Sadly, Grammy and Pop-Pop had to leave today.  We had a great visit with them and we will miss them!  Thankfully, they didn't have to leave for the airport until after Little Buddy woke up, which gave him an opportunity to say goodbye.  Sometimes, when people leave while he is asleep, he gets really upset when he wakes up and doesn't find them there.  Having some goodbye time made it much better.

The day seemed to go by very quickly today!  We started off the day with a workout and some duck feeding time...

"Quack quacks!"

...and before I knew it, Daddy was home to watch Little Buddy while I went to school!  Such a quick day, but at least I got some cuddle time with my little guy fit in as well.  Can't wait for Halloween tomorrow!

Good night,

Day 303: Quality Time with Grammy and Pop-Pop

With today being the last day with Grammy and Pop-Pop, Daddy and I went out for a date day (and a belated birthday celebration for me) so that Little Buddy could have a day of fun with his grandparents.  Daddy and I had a great time on our date and Little Buddy had so much fun playing outside with Grammy and Pop-Pop.  I think he has them wrapped around his finger. ;)

I think he wishes that Daddy and I were wrapped around his finger just as tightly, because once we got home, we made him do things he didn't want to do...like lie still and get his diaper changed.  Oh the horror!

Such an angry face.

Slowly calming down.

Later, Little Buddy decided that we needed to take Grammy and Pop-Pop to his favorite grilled cheese destination: Jason's!  He also was able to coerce some ice cream out of them.

Yummy!

And for bedtime, he wanted them to read him his story and rock him to sleep (while he was wearing one of his dress up hats).  They happily obliged.

Hop on Pop!

We had such a good visit with Grammy and Pop-Pop and will be sad to see them go tomorrow.  Well, if they can get out.  Hurricane Sandy on the east coast is combining with a winter storm, so a lot of flights are being cancelled.  Although we hope they are able to get out safely tomorrow, I know Little Buddy (and Daddy and I) wouldn't mind having them stay for another day!

Good night,

Day 302: Pumpkin Patching, Cookie Baking, and Skeleton Time

The weather was still beautiful today, so we hopped in the car and headed to the pumpkin patch.  It was our first time at this one, but Little Buddy loved it!

Checking out the pile of pumpkins.

"I think this is the one!"

"Yup!  Mine!"

"Here Pop-Pop, hold on to this for me."

Train time with Pop-Pop and Grammy!

Daddy, Mommy, and Uncle C.

Little Buddy at the top of the big slide.

After the pumpkin patch, we tried out a tasty new Mexican restaurant before heading home for naptime.  Once Little Buddy woke up, he and Grammy embarked on some sugar cookie baking.  Yum!

Mixing up the cookie dough.

 Cutting out pumpkins!

The pumpkin-themed day continued with some pumpkin caring!  Little Buddy wasn't too sure about touching the pumpkin innards, but Uncle C made it much more fun by yelling, "Bye seeds!" every time he threw them in the bucket.  That got Little Buddy in the spirit!  He still wouldn't reach into the pumpkin, but he was willing to swat the seeds into the bucket.

Watching Daddy scoop out the innards.

"I'm not too sure about this, Pop-Pop..."

Swatting at the seeds.

"Bye-bye seeds!"

Little Buddy's finished pumpkin: A homage to Elmo, of course!

We finished the day by surprising Little Buddy with the new pajamas that Daddy, Chesney, and I had gotten...

The Bones Family!

I'm not going to lie; I love that we all have matching, glow-in-the-dark skeleton pajamas.  I have been jealous of Little Buddy's every year since he was born.  I am glad that Daddy and I get to join in on the festive fun!  Much love to Chesney who was mostly tolerant of the whole situation.

Night everyone,

Day 301: Pictures and Playtime

We started our day off with some family pictures.  Because an amazing cold front came in the night to cool down our Texas temperatures, we had to do some quick outfit changes.  Our friend, Ms. J, took pictures of Little Buddy, Mommy, Daddy, Grammy, and Pop-Pop.  We should have some sneak peeks to share later this week!

Little Buddy spent the rest of the day playing with Grammy, Pop-Pop, and Uncle C!  He had a blast wearing his new skeleton jacket and Momma was relieved to have some extra time to work on her stats paper.

Helping Daddy and Pop-Pop feed the birds.

Playing on the boat.

Slide time!

Sitting in the sun.

Tomorrow we are going to take full advantage of this fall weather and go to a pumpkin patch!  Little Buddy is having such a blast going on all these adventures during Grammy and Pop-Pop's visit.

Day 300: Zoo Boo Fun!

Wow, I can't believe I have made it to my 300th entry!  It's hard to believe that there are only 66 more days left in the year.  Soon I will have met my New Year's Resolution of recording one full year of our experiences with Little Buddy!  It might be the first resolution that I've kept for the entire year.

I am so happy that our 300th day was such a memorable one!  Because Grammy and Pop-Pop are in town, we decided to take them to Zoo Boo at the Houston Zoo.  Little Buddy got to wear his pirate Halloween costume while having some zoo-rific adventures!

Captain Little Buddy!

Coloring the zoo coloring wall!

"Can we get an el-phant, Momma?"

Working hard to decorate his pumpkin!

"Let's go explore more!"

Drum time with a princess!

Riding on the gorilla with Pop-Pop!

We even got to feed the giraffes!  Little Buddy liked seeing them up close, but he wasn't too sure about giving them the lettuce.

Little Buddy had a great day, and especially liked seeing the chimpanzees, the tigers, the snow leopards, and the African wild dogs.  Following the zoo, we finished up the busy day with lunch with Uncle Chad and playing around on Rice University's campus.  Naptime didn't go too well because he slept while we were stuck in traffic on the way home, so bedtime came a bit early tonight.  He didn't mind too much, though, because Daddy surprised him by wearing some new pajamas.

My Cookie Monsters in their pjs!

It was a wonderful day and even more fun because we got to share it with Grammy and Pop-Pop!  We are looking forward to more adventures tomorrow.

Good night everyone,

Day 299: Making Connections

After a slow start to the morning, Little Buddy and I gained some steam and made it to boot camp (late) and lunch with Daddy, Mr. S, and Ms. A.  It was a lot of fun and Will wore himself out for a good nap.  Once he woke up, he was still pretty excited because Mammy and Pop-Pop were on their way for a visit!  We spend the afternoon playing Connect 4 to pass the time.

Working on connecting four in a row!

Unfortunately, Mammy and Pop-Pop were having issues with their connection at the airport.  After being delayed for hours in Detroit, they finally made it late into Houston.  Little Buddy was so excited that we let him stay up late so he could see them!

So excited to see Mammy and Pop-Pop!

Mammy and Pop-Pop are staying for a long weekend, so we have a lot of fun ahead!  Zoos and pumpkin patches and pictures are going to keep us going all weekend!
