Never.
After we got him to bed last night, my husband and I turned in early, looking forward to a full night of rest and maybe making it to church on time. However, it seemed like our heads had just hit the pillow when we heard Little Buddy crying. Not just crying, but sobbing and calling for us. We were so confused and thought it was around 5 AM and that he had woken up early. Then we realized it was just after midnight and rushed upstairs knowing that something must be seriously wrong for him to be crying at this time of the night.
And we were right.
Poor Little Buddy had thrown up those gosh darn french fries all over his bed. Even though he didn't have very many, the grease didn't sit well in his poor little tummy. We got him cleaned up and my husband was changing the bed sheet while I rocked Little Buddy. Unfortunately, his stomach still had some fries to get rid of and get rid of them it did. On me. All over me. Obviously Little Buddy just wanted to make sure that I had earned my Mother's Day gifts. *sigh*
We got him cleaned up again and set the pack and play up in our room so he would be with us the rest of the night. Thankfully, we were able to get him back to sleep and I was able to get all the vomit laundry in the washer. Sadly, morning came all too quickly and my husband and I's dream of a full night's sleep was dashed.
Tired, but happy Little Buddy's feeling ok!
But it was Mother's Day, so I was excited to celebrate. Four years ago, I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to be a mother, so I take any opportunity to celebrate the miracle of my Little Buddy. Besides the lack of sleep, the day started well with Little Buddy back to his old self and Daddy making me cinnamon rolls for breakfast. Then Little Buddy helped me open my gifts: a Fossil travel bag to take with me to Costa Rica next month and a Fossil charm bracelet. We then got to play for a bit before my next gift started...Uncle C was coming to babysit so that Daddy and I could go see the Avengers! I was so excited! I love going to see movies and haven't been able go very often since Little Buddy was born. Daddy and I had a good time (the movie was great) and ran a few quick errands (which go so much more quickly sans stroller and diaper bag) and headed home to see our favorite smile.
I am so lucky to be this kid's mom (even if he does puke on me every now and again).
Happy Mothers' Day everyone,
LBM
