Day 125: Squeezes and Tomato Kisses

So I am sorry that last night's entry was so lackluster.  Days when Little Buddy doesn't take a nap completely drain me and when you add in a forgotten school meeting, you get a very tired and uncreative mommy.  It happens.  Today was much better (in terms of being interesting, at least)!

The day started off pretty well, with Little Buddy remembering to give squeezes!  Yesterday, to get him to hold on to me tightly as I carried him down the stairs, as opposed to him squirming to break free and trying to fall, I would hug him in close and call out, "Squeeeeze!" He thought it was hilarious and begged for me.  Soon enough, each time I would say, "Squeeeze!", he would laugh and pull me into a bear hug.  I loved it!  What a great way to get snuggly hugs!

You would think a morning full of hugs would be a fantastic morning, right?  Well, you would be correct, except for a bit of a mishap.  (Let me go ahead and remind you again that blogs about babies will sometimes include discussions about poop.  Stop reading if you get squeamish.  You've been warned.)  Little Buddy had experienced two nasty bowel movements this morning, probably the result of too many blueberries yesterday.  Though these bowel movements were fairly large, he normally has two per morning, so I thought he was done until after lunch.  I cleaned him up, put him in a fresh diaper, and went to get dressed.  When I came back into the living room, I was surprised to see some type of greenish-brown mud all over the carpet.  It looked suspiciously like goose poop, but I don't have a goose.  But I do have a baby.  I immediately cast my eyes to Little Buddy to see that, yes, he had another terrible bowel movement and that it was leaking out of his diaper!  It had run down his leg, causing him to step in it and track it everywhere.  Who doesn't love a day that starts with scrubbing poo-poo out of your carpet?  *sigh*  I called my husband and asked if he would like to be the stay-at-home parent.  He politely declined, lol.

I did manage to get the floor cleaned, but it caused us to be nearly 20 minutes late for BBC.  Oh well, what matters is that we went and got in some training as opposed to none at all.  And Little Buddy was happy to play at the splash pad!

Fun times at Market Street!

Even Little Buddy knows it is important to take time to smell the flowers!

After some lunch, Little Buddy blessedly took a nap.  Thank goodness!  I was able to recharge, pick up around the house a bit, and read some articles for school before he woke up.  Days when I don't get that small break are miserable, and after yesterday I was very thankful for the mommy reprieve.

Once Daddy got home, we had dinner.  The weather was so nice that we ate outside while listening to music on Daddy's new speakers.  Little Buddy certainly loved his turkey burger and peaches!  We went down to check on the garden when we were done.  Everything is coming along well: banana peppers are huge, pea pods look great, and tomatoes are ripening.  Little Buddy really wanted to pick some more non-ripe produce, but we tried to explain that he couldn't because they weren't ready.  In the end, we told him that he needed to be gentle with the vegetables.  Upon hearing this, he immediately bent down and kissed the tomatoes!  The cuteness was overwhelming.

Kisses for the tomatoes!

I love our garden Mommy!

After that adorable display, it was bath time.  I was so happy to get to be home tonight and participate in Little Buddy's bed time rituals again.  And I got to cut Little Buddy's nails, which was way overdue.  The nail cutting job is all mine.  I've offered it to Daddy, but he always politely declines that offer as well.  :)

Good night everyone,

LBM
