Day 163: Two at the Zoo!

Today was Little Buddy's second birthday! We had a big day planned, but before we got started, we had to start with a birthday banana!

Make a wish, Little Buddy!

After we ate breakfast, we Skyped with Momma so she could wish Little Buddy a happy birthday. Next up,  it was time to open a couple gifts.

First up, his very own tape measure!

Next, he got his first set of CRAFTSMAN tools. Nothing else compares!

After we opened presents and Little Buddy realized he could run around the house with the tape measure, using it like a whip, we had to get ready for the day's big adventure. I decided to take Little Buddy to the zoo for a little while so he could see some of his favorite animals! The zoo doesn't open until 9, so we planned to be there when it opened so we could maximize our time there before lunch. However, by the time we had arrived (at 9:20 am, mind you,) the temperature had already shot over 90 degrees.

It's gonna be a hot one!

Once we got inside, we had to make a bee-line to the big cats. Little buddy has been obsessed lately with lions and tigers.

Rehearsing for his future job as lion caretaker.

Next up, we headed over to the chimpanzees. If there is anything he likes better than big cats, it's the monkeys!

"Hurry up Daddy, we are running out of time!"

Little Buddy watching the chimps run around.

Little buddy had a bunch of fun watching the chimps, as well as the rhinos, kudu and giraffes, then we finished up by riding the carousel. Of course, we had to ride on one of the monkeys. Before we left, we headed to the gift shop. Old softy Dad told him he could pick out a stuffed toy. Unfortunately, he picked the largest monkey in the store (fortunately for me, it wasn't for sale!) I got Little Buddy to settle for a smaller monkey as well as a couple other things. :)

"I want that one Daddy!"

After the zoo, we met Uncle C for birthday lunch at Ruggles. Then we headed back home. Little Buddy woke up as we got home, so it was a struggle to get him back down for his nap. However, he was in a great mood after he woke up! Once dinner was finished it was time for birthday cake!

Pre candle lighting. (The small candles spell out Will!)

Little Buddy definitely enjoyed his piece of cake!

I think Little Buddy had a great birthday. Only one thing could have made it better: his Momma. He  really misses her, as do I! Luckily, Grammy and Pop are coming to visit tomorrow, so Little Buddy will be distracted with lots of attention until Momma gets back home!

Good night,

TWB
