Day 182: Wedding Bells by Candlelight

Although we were praying for it, the power still hadn't come on in time for the wedding.  The bride and groom were champs however, and were prepared for a wedding celebration by candlelight!

Happy family!

Pop and Grammy getting ready to take Little Buddy back home.

All of us!

Little Buddy went home to catch some rest with Grammy and Pop, while Daddy and I danced the night away and had fun with friends.  Even though there was no power (so no lights or air-conditioning), there was music (the DJ had a generator), so a great time was had by all!  Thanks again to Grammy and Pop for watching Little Buddy for us!

Day 181: Travel Time!

We were up early this morning to head to the airport for our big Ohio weekend.  Thankfully, Little Buddy was easily occupied by some banana while waiting to board our plane.

Breakfast at the airport.

The flight went alright, Little Buddy managed to only annoy Mommy and Daddy and not any one around us.  He also managed to pee on Daddy.  Remind me why we thought it would be a good idea to travel with a toddler again?  Anyway, we made it to Cleveland and started our drive to Marietta.

Silly boy in the rental car.

We made it to Marietta and Little Buddy was excited to play.  He immediately broke out his grill to make us dinner.

Unfortunately, his grilling time was cut short by a freak storm that downed trees and knocked the power out.  It was crazy and not what we planned for our first night back in Ohio!  Thankfully, Little Buddy wasn't phased by anything; he was just excited to play with Grammy and Pop!

Drawing with Pop-Pop.

Playtime with Mammy!

Even though the storm was very brutal, we definitely saw the silver lining.  Little Buddy got to see his first rainbow!  He was very excited about seeing "Bain-Bo" that was in the "sky" with "Pop-Pop."  He also blew kisses to it to tell it "buh-bye."  It was adorable and he would retell the story all night.

Even without light or air-conditioning, we were happy to be back in Ohio!

Day 180: Cuddliest Side of the Bed

Little Buddy slept in pretty late this morning.  When I did finally hear him call out for "Mama!", I went up and saw this:

He was very pleasant, so maybe this was the right side of the bed to wake up on?  It certainly was the cuddliest side!

We actually made it to Boot Camp on time (mostly because I have convinced myself that it starts at 9:00 AM instead of 9:15 AM.  That way, when I show up at 9:07 AM, I'm early, not late).  We then had a quick play date with our friends at Ms. C's house.  Once again, my gentle giant showed himself.

Little Buddy making food to feed the baby dolls.  He's such a sweetie!

Afterwards, we met Ms. K for a late lunch.  We were so excited to see her!  Little Buddy had fun "arm wrestling" with her and telling her the alphabet.  Once we finished, Little Buddy came home for a late nap.  He must have been really tired, because he slept for nearly three hours!

After dinner and a bath, Little Buddy hit the hay and Daddy and I packed for our Ohio trip tomorrow.  We're leaving early in the morning, so wish us luck with Little Buddy at the airport!

Good night,

Day 179: You Can Never Have Enough Pool Time

Little Buddy's last day of summer school was today, and they celebrated with a Water Day.  However, in the Texas summer, you can never have enough water time to cool down, so we headed to another pool in the afternoon too!

Since we bought a pool pass this summer, which gives us access to all twelve community pools,  we've been trying a new pool each outing.  Today's was a favorite.  It was a little smaller than the others and had a dedicated Little Kids area separate from the regular pool.  Also, it had shade and a swan slide!

Little Buddy loved this pool, but didn't like the safety breaks too much.  He's just looking longingly at the swan slide!

We had a great time with our friends and then rushed home for dinner with Daddy.  We had spaghetti with meatballs.  Even though Little Buddy still doesn't want to eat pasta, he certainly downed his meatballs!

Day 178: Staying Cool at the Pool

Since it has been so hot lately, Little Buddy and I started our day at the pool with some friends.  After lounging with the boys on the side, Little Buddy waded in and had a great time on the slide.

Lounging pool side.

After a picnic lunch at the pool, we headed home where Little Buddy took an extra long nap, which allowed me to get ready for school tonight.  I miss Little Buddy so much while I am at school, but I know that he and Daddy have great boys' nights!

Day 177: It's Hot Out There

Summer in Texas is in full swing.  It's hot out there!  So hot, in fact, that Little Buddy can't go play on his pirate ship until the evening.  After Boot Camp, lunch, and nap today, he really wanted to go outside.  Thankfully, I was able to distract him with some playtime and a little Elmo before he broke down the door to head into triple digit temperatures.

I managed to keep him distracted through dinner too.  We even finally managed to get him to eat some steamed broccoli!  He doesn't mind his vegetables, as long as they are still pureed.  We've been trying to work on eating whole veggies and we made some progress tonight.  Turns out that blueberry yogurt is an excellent dipping sauce for broccoli.  Who knew?

Loving his broccoli (with blueberry yogurt dip)

Finally, once Little Buddy had eaten his fill, it was cool enough to go outside.  He couldn't wait!  He ran right out the door and up the gangplank.

Boarding

 "Let's set sail, Momma!"

"Where do you want to go?"

I love that he loves his pirate ship so much.  It may be hot now, but he will get a lot of use out of it in the cooler months too!  I should be able to distract him with some pool time this week.

Day 176: Baseballs and Bounce Houses

After our busy day yesterday, we decided to keep the momentum going today.  The Cleveland Indians were playing the Astros today, so we met Uncle C and our friend Ms. K for the game.  Little Buddy was so excited to see Uncle C again!

After my dear Indians predictably lost (it barely phases me anymore), we were on our way to celebrate two of our friends' birthdays.  S and her brother B were turning 4 and 2 respectively, so we got to celebrate with them at Bouncing Bears!

Bouncing Bears is an indoor bounce house play area.  This was Little Buddy's first visit, but I'm sure we will be back.  He certainly seemed to enjoy himself!

Someone was pretty obsessed with "birfday" cake after this weekend!

Giving his friend C a ride.

We were all pretty tired once we got home and were more than happy to get some eats and go to bed.  Hopefully we can get back on routine and get some rest this week, but you never know! Everyday's an adventure!

Day 175: Pirate Party Palooza!

Still working on it!  There are a lot of pictures!

Today was finally the day!  The Pirate Party was underway and the pirate ship seemed to be a hit among all the kids!

Wahoo!  Ship and yard are full of happy kids!

Treasure chest cake and pirate cupcakes!

Hanging out on the patio

Captain Will, the birthday pirate!

 Captain Will and Uncle C

Captain Will's Booty Table

Captain Will off to check on his crew!

Somebody seems to be enjoying his "birfday cake!"

We love our birthday boy!

After a two hour delay, we finally got the party boy down for his nap!

But once he woke up, the pirate theme was still going strong!  As was his love of birfday cake!

Thanks to everyone who came out to help us celebrate this special day!  Little Buddy had a great time and we hope you did too (possibly because we may not throw another party for him until he turns 5, lol!).

Day 174: Snack Time

Some times you just have to take a break from routine and enjoy the ride.  Today was that day for us and, even though it set us back on some of our goals, the deviation was completely worth it.

We started the morning off with a vet visit for Chesney.  Since both of my little animals did so well at the appointment, we decided to stop for a quick treat afterwards.  We're not big on junk food (in fact, I am notoriously a bit obsessed with nutrition), but we decided a little snack would be ok.  Both Little Buddy and Chesney seemed to approve of the ice cream.

Little Buddy than managed to steal one of my onion rings!  He didn't seem to feel too bad about it, either.

Then, once we got home, he snuck in the kitchen and stole the rest of Daddy's chocolate malt when we weren't looking!

"Yum, that was tasty!"

After all the snack breaks, I spent the rest of the day corralling my little monkey while Uncle C and Daddy put in some overtime on the ship building.  Can't believe the party is tomorrow!  I'm really looking forward to watching Little Buddy and his friends play on the pirate ship.  It's going to be fun!

Day 173: So Much Time, So Little to Do...Strike That, Reverse It

After making it to Boot Camp on time, we played at the germ tree for a bit and then met Daddy for lunch.  Little Buddy is definitely ok with returning to his normal schedule, especially if it gets him more grilled cheese sandwiches and sundried tomatoes.

Daddy took the rest of the day off of work so he could spend more time on the pirate ship.  I am really looking forward to the party this weekend, but I am mostly looking forward to it being over!  Between prepping for the party, building the pirate ship, working on school assignments, trying to keep the house decent, and chasing around a toddler, my husband and I are burning the candle at both ends late into the night.  I think we will celebrate the end of this weekend with an early bedtime!

Day 172: Cuddles

Another busy day.  While Little Buddy was at school, I spent the day working on assignments for class.  I was quite excited then to take a break to pick my little man up.  We decided that we deserved an afternoon at the Children's Museum together.  After playing in the fire truck, sweeping the floors, hiding the price scanner at the grocery store (he really loves that thing and keeps hiding it from the other kids), and driving the pick-up truck, we went home to have dinner with Daddy. Too soon then it was bath time and bed time.  However, since Daddy had to go out and work more on the pirate ship, I got to put Little Buddy to bed.

Cuddling up after story time.
