Day 317: Lifestyle Changes

Today was the third day of our self-imposed TV denial.  I had been really impressed with Little Buddy over the weekend, but I knew the real test would come this week, when the fun distraction of Daddy Time was over.  It also wasn't going to be easy for me to give up my morning news, but I knew it would be worth it in the end.

I set the DVR to record Today so that I could watch it during Little Buddy's nap, and went to get him out of bed.  Surprisingly, he didn't even ask for it!  We had a great morning and even made it to boot camp on time.

The real test came after nap time, when he started asking for Elmo.  We held strong and went outside to play.  It was a little cooler today, so Little Buddy needed to wear his hat.

Watering the plants.

Running the football!

I have to say, just making the TV change this week has made a big difference.  Without being distracted by TV, both Little Buddy and I are interacting more and having more fun inventing new games.  I didn't realize how much just two hours a day occupied our time and attention, but I like having all our focus on each other.  I also like not having a toddler demanding TV all the time!  I think making TV more treat than routine will be really good for us.

Night all,
