Day 8: An Epiphany

After my husband and I's date night last night, we were skeptical that we could get Little Buddy up and ready for church at 7:30 this morning.  We normally go on Saturday evenings, since Little Buddy takes a long time at breakfast in the mornings.  Today, we actually we able to get up and get going, which was a miracle within its self.  Since we were doing so well, we decided to actually see if Little Buddy could make it through the whole Mass in the main section of the church, as opposed to the back.  It was a risky enterprise for an active toddler, but he actually did great!  It was so nice to actually be able to share the full service with him.

Today we celebrated the Epiphany at church.  As we listened to the story of the magi bringing the gifts to a baby Jesus, I couldn't help but look at my own baby and see the miracle there.  I have always been strong in my faith, but having a child has only increased it.  Especially as I think about Mary having an infant Jesus: nursing him every two hours, changing his diapers, relishing ever smile and coo.  Now I think about her having a toddler Jesus:  laughing, running, starting to develop a personality based both in curiosity and mischief.  It just makes me reflect deeper on how much God does love us, to want to have His Son experience the beauty of growing up human.

And grow up they do!  Here is my Little Buddy today:

Hanging out in his little blue chair.

I'm ready to play Mommy!

Mowing the lawn.  His daddy will be so happy when can actually help with this chore!

Anyway, I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Good night,
